Fedora Kernel upgrade breaks nVidia drivers

After upgrading to fedora 22 I found out that the RPM drivers were not yet supported, it took me a long time to get my nVidia Geforce card working with fc22  nivdia.  Then last month I upgraded from the 4.1.6 kernel to 4.1.8 and then to 4.2 and I had to select the 4.1.6 kernel from the Grub menu to see anything besides a blank screen. 

After much trial and error the only thing that worked for me was to follow the steps on this web page:
